Nats' Williams 'fine' after hit-and-run in car

Published May. 7, 2014 12:12 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) This is not the sort of hit-and-run situation Nationals manager Matt Williams expected to encounter on a game day.

Williams says he was stopped in traffic a few blocks away from Nationals Park while driving to work Wednesday when his car was sideswiped by another vehicle that then took off, chased by police.

And it all happened while Williams was doing his weekly live radio appearance with ''The Junkies'' on 106.7 The Fan.

Meeting with reporters before Washington's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Williams says: ''I'm fine. No worries. Car's not real good, but I'm good.''

Williams says his car wasn't hit very hard.

''All I feel is this car just kind of nudge in between myself and another car,'' he says, adding: ''It was odd.''
