Nats recall 2 to fill post-trades roster spots
The Washington Nationals have recalled catcher Jhonatan Solano and left-hander Xavier Cedeno after a pair of trades that sent catcher Kurt Suzuki to the Athletics and outfielder David DeJesus to the Rays.
The moves were made before Friday night's series opener against the Royals.
The Nationals acquired right-hander Dakota Bacus from the A's in the deal for Suzuki and plan to send him to Class-A Hagerstown. They picked up a player to be named or cash from Tampa Bay for DeJesus, whom they acquired from the Cubs on Monday.
Washington filled the two resulting roster spots with players from Triple-A Syracuse. Solano was 6 for 36 in a pair of stints with the big league club earlier this year, while Cedeno will be joining the Nationals for the fourth time.
