Nationals recall RHP Martin to start at Padres

The Washington Nationals have recalled right-hander J.D. Martin from Triple-A Syracuse to start against the San Diego Padres.

Martin will be making his season debut Saturday. He was 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA in six starts with Syracuse. Martin went 5-4 with a 4.44 ERA in 15 starts as a rookie with Washington last year.

To make room on the roster, right-hander Justin Maxwell was optioned to Syracuse.
