Montreal considers ways to honor Gary Carter
The city of Montreal is asking people for ideas on how the late baseball great Gary Carter should be remembered.
The Hall of Fame catcher died earlier this month. Carter played his first 11 major league seasons in Montreal and returned to the Expos in 1992 to end his career.
Montreal residents will be able to pitch ideas through the city's website until March 31. A decision will be made with Carter's family.
The agency that runs Montreal's Olympic Park also has expressed an interest in seeing a public place honoring Carter near the stadium where he played.
Montreal sports fans recently shared memories of Carter during a Canadiens game. The Canadiens all wore Carter's No. 8 on their jerseys during warmups and he was honored in a pregame ceremony.
