The New York Mets have placed left-hander Jonathon Niese on the disabled list because of a partial tear in his rotator cuff.

Niese left Thursday night's game at Atlanta in the fourth inning. He was 3-6 with a 4.32 ERA in 14 starts.

Right-hander Greg Burke was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Niese. Burke had a 2.13 ERA in a previous stint with the Mets this season.
