SAN FRANCISCO (AP) New York Mets prized pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard will need to rest for up to a week after hurting his non-throwing shoulder in a tag play at the plate in a minor league game.
The Mets say Syndergaard sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder during the play Thursday night for Triple-A Las Vegas. He will need to rest for five-to-seven days before he starts throwing again.
Syndergaard got hurt in his first start after returning from the DL because of a mild strain in his right elbow.
Syndergaard is 5-3 with a 4.47 ERA in 11 starts this season in Triple-A.
