New York Mets starter Dillon Gee is headed to the organization's Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas, the team announced Tuesday.

The move comes after Gee officially cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Mets on June 15, following a rocky spot start the day before.

The 29-year-old righty can reject assignment and become a free agent, but would leave behind the money that is owed to him by the Mets for the remainder of the season.

Gee has roughly $3 million remaining on his $5.3-million contract for the 2015 season.
