Mets GM Alderson cracks Te'o joke

BY foxsports • January 20, 2013

The Manti Te’o story may be one of the most bizarre and puzzling stories in sports history — which makes it the perfect target for jokes.

At the New York Baseball Writers’ Association of America dinner Saturday night, Sandy Alderson, the general manager of the New York Mets, was asked about the holes they have yet to fill in their outfield.

Last season, the Mets starting outfield was Jason Bay, Andres Torres and Lucas Duda, with Scott Hairston playing a major role as well. Currently, Duda is the only player that remains from that outfield as Bay signed with the Seattle Mariners, Torres signed with the San Francisco Giants and Hairston remains a free agent.

In his answer, Alderson showcased his sense of humor, as tweeted below by Brian Costa of The Wall Street Journal.

The New York Mets may be changing their name to the New York Catfish.
