Mets ask at least two coaches back

Published Nov. 22, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

At least two members of Jerry Manuel's coaching staff will retain their jobs under new Mets manager Terry Collins, who will be formally introduced at news conference Tuesday morning at Citi Field.

Third-base coach Chip Hale and pitching coach Dan Warthen will return in their same positions in 2011, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed Monday.

Hale had been one of the four finalists for the manager's job, and under Warthen, the Mets' pitching staff posted a 3.73 earned-run average in 2010, sixth-best in the National League.
