Mat Latos, Burnett among 7 September call-ups for Nationals
WASHINGTON (AP) Right-hander Mat Latos and lefty reliever Sean Burnett are among seven players added to the Washington Nationals' active roster as September call-ups.
Also joining the Nationals before Friday's game at the New York Mets were catcher Pedro Severino, outfielder Brian Goodwin, right-handed pitchers Trevor Gott and Rafael Martin, and left-handed pitcher Matt Grace.
Latos went 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in six minor league starts since signing as a free agent with Washington after starting the season with the Chicago White Sox. He and Burnett had their contracts selected by the Nationals from Triple-A Syracuse.
The other five players also were recalled from Syracuse.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Latos and Burnett - a member of Washington's bullpen from 2009-12 - the Nationals designated outfielder Matt den Dekker for assignment and moved right-handed starter Joe Ross from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.
