Marcum leaves game in 6th inning

Published Jul. 17, 2011 10:56 p.m. ET

Milwaukee Brewers starter Shaun Marcum has left Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies in the sixth inning with a strained neck.

Marcum allowed one run through the first five innings before giving up a home run to Jason Giambi on his first pitch of the sixth.

He went to a 2-0 count on Troy Tulowitzki when a Brewers trainer and manager Ron Roenicke came to the mound to talk with Marcum. Marcum threw a few warmup pitches before being replaced by reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

Marcum (7-3) left the game with a 4-2 lead.
