Manny in talks with Taiwan team?

Published Feb. 5, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

Manny Ramirez, once one of the most feared hitters in the sport, is in talks to play for the EDA Rhinos of the Taiwanese professional baseball league, a major league source told FOXSports.com.

Ramirez had a .795 OPS for Aguilas during the 2012-2013 Dominican Winter League regular season. He played in Taiwan during exhibitions with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 2010 season.

Ramirez, who has been suspended twice for performance-enhancing drug use, has not played in the majors since a five-game stint with Tampa Bay at the beginning of the 2011 season. In 2012, he batted .302 with no home runs in 17 games with Triple-A Sacramento in the Oakland Athletics' organization.

Ramirez, 40, was regarded as a certain Hall of Famer before the steroid suspensions hastened the end of his major league career. He has 555 career home runs.
