Make-A-Wish turns backyard into Fenway Park for 10-year-old with muscular dystrophy

The Make-A-Wish Foundation does incredible work day in and day out. But sometimes, it outdoes even itself in making dreams come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Such is the case with Boston Red Sox fan Thomas Hastings, a 10-year-old who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The genetic disease keeps Hastings, who is from Connecticut, from playing organized baseball — but it has not curtailed his love for the game.

So when Make-A-Wish reached out to Hastings, he knew what he wanted: A ballpark in his backyard. But not just any ballpark: The home of the Boston Red Sox.

So Make-A-Wish and neighbors of the 10-year-old went to work to turn Thomas Hastings' backyard into a mini-Fenway Park.

The Green Monster, Citgo sign, the Pesky pole — you name it.

The Green Monster was also made wheelchair accessible.
