DAVIS RETURNS

Orioles slugger Chris Davis will be in the lineup at Tampa Bay. He missed the opener, sitting out while finishing his 25-game drug suspension imposed last year.

The Brewers will get an update on star Ryan Braun, who left the season opener with a strain on his right side. The 2011 NL MVP banged into the outfield wall catching a ball and exited early. Braun was slowed much of last year by a thumb injury.

HOMECOMING

Miami newcomer Mat Latos grew up in South Florida and starts at Marlins Park vs. Atlanta. He admits he might be a bit nervous, but won't be worrying about getting his family and friends into the stadium.

''I shut down ticket sales for everybody,'' he said. ''They have to buy their own.''

CLOSING TIME

Mets closer Jenrry Mejia heads for New York to be examined by team medical director Dr. David Altchek. Mejia's elbow tightened while he was warming up for a save chance on opening day in Washington, and he didn't get into the game.

SOONER THAN EXPECTED

Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong was moved up to pitch against the Diamondbacks in place of Jake Peavy, who struggled with a ''dead arm'' in his final three spring starts. Peavy is expected back in the rotation for the next series against San Diego.
