Laila Ali: Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a 'little boy'
Laila Ali spoke candidly about Floyd Mayweather during a recent appearance on CBS Sports' "We Need to Talk," and she expressed a tremendous amount of pity for him instead of assumed derision given his troubled past and disturbing history of domestic violence.
Ali, who said she supports Mayweather and is friendly with his family, said she believes he needs help.
"There have been times I’ve wanted to reach out to him and have a conversation with him, because I see a little boy even though he's a grown man. I see a broken person," she said, as transcribed by Complex.
"I know when you have money and you have 'power' and you have all these yes people around you, sometimes you don’t have that person to pull you aside and give it to you straight.
"So every once in awhile, I'm just like, 'You know what? I need to reach out to Floyd and I need to have a conversation with him.' Because I don't hate him. I dislike the way that he acts.
"I dislike the way that he treats people. And obviously, I’m definitely not down with this beating on women because that’s very cowardly. But . . . he needs somebody to reach out to him and guide him.”
Ali’s comments certainly are compelling and -- given her familial history with the sport -- she probably could be a worthwhile confidante for Mayweather.
Although, given Mayweather's history, pride and hubris, there is no chance of him ever taking her up on it if she were to offer her help.

For what it’s worth, though, Ali is backing Pacquiao in the fight, saying she thinks he might get the knockout.
