Justin Turner now appears to be Dodgers starting third baseman
Justin Turner now appears to be the Dodgers’ primary third baseman. This revelation was evident even before Juan Uribe was traded to the Braves on Tuesday. The Los Angeles Times pointed out on Monday how many games Turner had started recently at third. Including Tuesday night’s game, Turner has started at third in 13 of the 21 games the Dodgers have played this month.
Per the L.A. Times, manager Don Mattingly explained the pattern of Turner’s starts:
“We try to be three [games] on, one off and two on and one off,” Mattingly said. “Trying basically to not let him go too far at one time.”
With Uribe gone now, Alex Guerrero will certainly be at third when Turner rests, while probably continuing to get starts in left field when Turner does start.
