Jordy Mercer 'pleased' with his progress

A bruised rib cage is still bothering Jordy Mercer enough to keep him out of the lineup, but the Pirates shortstop is getting better, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"I'm really pleased with the way it felt," Mercer told the newspaper.

Mercer is hitting .200 through his first 11 games.
