Jimmie Lee Solomon resigns from MLB after 21 years

Jimmie Lee Solomon has resigned as executive vice president of baseball development in the commissioner's office.
Solomon's departure was announced Thursday by Major League Baseball.
He was hired in 1991 as director of minor league relations and was promoted to senior vice president of baseball operations in 2000 and executive vice president of baseball operations in 2005. He shifted to executive vice president of baseball development in June 2010.
''It was great being in baseball,'' Solomon said. ''I loved doing what I was doing.'''
MLB also promoted Rob Manfred from executive vice president of labor and human resources to executive vice president of economics and league affairs. Manfred has taken on more responsibility since president and chief operating officer Bob DuPuy left in October 2009. Manfred was baseball's chief operative in dealing with the sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers in federal bankruptcy court.
