Jeter cast as a bum in new movie

Who needs Gold Gloves and world championships when there's an Oscar to be had?

Baseball hero Derek Jeter has gone Hollywood without leaving the confines of New York.

The Yankees captain and five-time world champion is playing a fictionalized version of himself in "The Other Guys," a Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg comedy that was being filmed Thursday at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island.

Mark Wahlberg plays a cop assigned to permanent desk duty after wrongly shooting Jeter in the leg. The scene shot Thursday takes place years later, when a down-on-his-luck Jeter — sporting stringy gray hair — encounters Wahlberg and Ferrell.
