Jay-Z calls out Boras in new song

If anyone expected Jay-Z to timidly dip his toes into the water and quietly enter the athlete representation game without a splash, they were wrong. Very, very wrong.

In addition to his newly formed Roc Nation Sports agency signing stars Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins and Robinson Cano, the rap mogul now has used his skills in the recording studio to attack one of his chief rivals in his newest endeavor.

In short, Jay-Z put Scott Boras on blast.

On his new song “CROWN”, whose lyrics were released Tuesday, Jay-Z takes a direct shot at Boras, the baseball super-agent who represented Cano prior to Roc Nation Sports:

“Scott Boris (sic), you over, baby/Robinson Cano, you coming with me.”

In the same song, Jay-Z raps, “These [redacted] are like rotary phones/ It’s a new day, hit up KD.” KD, of course, is a reference to Durant, the NBA superstar who recently left longtime agent Rob Pelinka for Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.

Back in April, Boras told FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal in an exclusive interview, “We never heard from [Cano] regarding anything but his approval of the process that we discussed way back in October. We had three communications with him after he signed the representation agreement. We never heard anything from him to suggest that anything was other than he desired.”

In a later interview, Boras told the New York Post: “For [Cano] to make such immediate changes means a lot was said to him, a lot was promised and a player sometimes needs time to understand situations when a great amount of new information comes his way.”

This rivalry could be just getting started.
