The widow of famed "Singing Cowboy" Gene Autry is not expected to face charges after she struck and killed a homeless man while driving, police told The Orange County Register Tuesday.

Jackie Autry, 69, was not cited after the accident, which occurred at 6:53pm Thursday in Palm Springs, and there was no indication she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

There was also no indication she was speeding.

Jackie Autry struck 50-year-old Jesus Cardova Diaz in her Lexus and he was pronounced dead about 7:43pm after being taken to the Desert Regional Medical Center.

She told The Desert Sun she did not see the man as she was driving home from Thanksgiving dinner with friends.

"I feel very badly ... This is horrible," she told the newspaper.

Jackie Autry, the former owner of the Los Angeles Angels, was married to Gene Autry from 1981 until his death in 1998.
