Interim manager Bogar won't stay on Rangers' staff
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Tim Bogar, who filled in after former Texas manager Ron Washington resigned and was a finalist to replace him, will not be on the Rangers' coaching staff next season.
General manager Jon Daniels said Monday that he and new manager Jeff Banister had discussions with Bogar in recent days and ''decided that it is best for us to go in another direction.''
Daniels said Bogar has been offered another position in the organization and ''is going to look at other potential opportunities.''
Bogar, Washington's bench coach, had a 14-8 record for the last-place Rangers after Washington stepped down for personal reasons. Texas finished 67-95.
Daniels and Banister arrived at the team's spring training complex in Surprise, Arizona, on Monday night for organizational meetings.
Through a team spokesman, Bogar declined comment.
