Indians won't have Chief Wahoo as primary logo anymore
The Cleveland Indians chose the Hall of Fame election day to counter some of the bad press from Native American activist groups that were sensitive to their name and mascot, Chief Wahoo.

The team is changing its primary logo from Wahoo to the block letter C. While the Wahoo logo still will be seen on hats and jerseys, it seems as if the organization could slowly be moving towards taking Wahoo out permanently. That isn't such a bad idea to do gradually, as opposed to abruptly taking away something fans have identified with for decades.
And there is still money is to be made on merchandise, right?
The revenue has to be a determining factor into why they haven't wiped away Wahoo completely, according to NBC Sports' Craig Calcaterra.
This change might not seem like a big deal, but it shows sensitivity to the issue.
With the Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins also under fire for their team names and mascots, it's an issue that's not going away, so don't expect the Indians to hold onto Wahoo for too long. It will be a good look once it's gone for good.
