Indians first baseman Nick Swisher was evaluated in Cleveland on Sunday to determine the next step in his rehab. And that next step is joining the big league club.

Swisher will be added to the Indians' active roster on Tuesday and is expected to play in the series against the Royals in Kansas City, according to MLB.com.

Swisher, who underwent double knee surgery this past pffseason, has played in six minor-league rehab games for Triple-A Columbus, batting .375 (9-for-24) with a home run, two doubles and five RBI.

To make room for Swisher on the roster, the Indians will option outfielder Tyler Holt to Triple-A Columbus.
