Indians decline $3 million option on outfielder Ryan Raburn
CLEVELAND (AP) The Indians have declined their $3 million option for next season on veteran outfielder Ryan Raburn.
Cleveland owes a $100,000 buyout to Raburn, who batted .301 with eight homers and 29 RBIs in 82 games this year. The 34-year-old was used mainly as a platoon player against left-handers. He becomes eligible for free agency.
Raburn signed with Cleveland as a free agent in 2013 after six seasons with Detroit. He batted .272 16 homers and 55 RBIs in his first season with the Indians, helping them reach the AL wild-card game. The club rewarded him with a two-year extension.
Raburn was injured throughout much of 2014 as he began the season dealing with knee and wrist injuries sustained when he ran into a wall trying to make a catch in a spring training game.
