CLEVELAND (AP) The Indians have activated right-hander Zach McAllister from the 15-day disabled list and designated left-hander Josh Outman for assignment.

McAllister hasn't pitched since May 21 because of a sore back. He began the season in the rotation and is 3-4 with a 5.89 ERA in 10 starts. McAllister is scheduled to start Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels.

Outman was 4-0 with a 3.28 ERA in 31 relief appearances. He allowed two runs in 1 1-3 innings in Monday's 9-3 loss. Outman pitched 24 2-3 innings, allowing four home runs with 16 walks and 24 strikeouts.

Outman was acquired from Colorado for outfielder Drew Stubbs in December.
