Indians acquire minor league pitcher

The Cleveland Indians have acquired reliever Joe Martinez from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.

The 27-year-old right-hander split time last season between Triple-A and the majors for both Pittsburgh and San Francisco. He went a combined 0-1 with a 4.12 ERA in nine games. He has two minor-league options left, giving the Indians some roster flexibility.

The Pirates acquired him at the trading deadline for lefty LHP Javier Lopez. He had a 3.12 ERA in five games for Pittsburgh.
