Milton Bradley was back in the Cubs lineup for the first time in nearly a week and had a double in three at-bats during Chicago's split-squad, 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday. Bradley walked in his first at-bat for the Cubs on Feb. 26 but was removed for a pinch runner because of tightness in his quadriceps. He was the designated hitter Wednesday. "I felt good today," Bradley said. "I'm just going to pace myself. In my first game I really didn't feel like I played because I knew I would only get one at-bat." Beau Mills, Cleveland's No. 1 draft pick in 2007, hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Mills, a right-handed hitting first baseman, is slated to begin the season at Double-A Akron, but is making a good impression in his second major league camp. "I'm a lot more comfortable this spring training," Mills said. "The first time around you put a lot of pressure on your shoulders. You want to do well. You want to have a good showing and you force the issue too much. I'm coming in here a lot more relaxed than last year." "He's a strong kid," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "He's a smart baseball player." The 22-year-old Mills batted .293 with 21 homers and 90 RBIs last season at Class A Kinston. His father, Brad, played in the majors from 1980-83 and has been Boston's bench coach since 2004. Mills is batting .357 (5-for-14) with a homer and four RBIs. His homer came off starter Chad Gaudin, who allowed three runs and four hits in three innings. The Cubs were without manager Lou Piniella and several of their regulars, who are in Las Vegas for a two-game series against the White Sox. Second baseman Aaron Miles, first baseman Derrek Lee and Bradley were the only everyday players in the lineup. Victor Martinez doubled in a run and Mills followed with a two-run homer in the first for Cleveland. Carl Pavano, slated to be the Indians' No. 3 starter, allowed three runs and four hits in two innings in his second start of the spring. He hit a batter and walked one. Pavano pitched two scoreless innings in his first start. No. 2 starter Fausto Carmona relieved Pavano and threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Wilson Valdez's groundout broke the 4-4 tie in the eighth. Notes: AL CY Young winner Cliff Lee on Thursday will ride along in an F-16 aircraft, which will take off from Luke Air Force Base, located near the team's training complex. Cleveland general manager Mark Shapiro doesn't anticipate any problems for his star pitcher. "As long as he's not flying it, I'm OK," Shapiro joked. Lee will make his first start of the spring Friday against Milwaukee. ... The Indians are expecting designated hitter Travis Hafner to make his first start Friday. He had surgery on his right shoulder in October, an injury that limited him to 57 games last season when he batted .197 with five homers and 24 RBIs. ... Outfielder David Dellucci is also expected to appear in his first game. He slammed the trunk of his car on his left thumb a few days before camp and needed several stitches to close the cut. ... Center fielder Grady Sizemore, who pulled out of the WBC because of a sore left groin, will not play Friday as originally planned. Wedge said Sizemore will go through agility drills and his status will be reevaluated. ... OF Brad Snyder, the Indians' No. 1 pick in 2003, had two RBIs for the Cubs.
