Published May. 9, 2012 2:22 a.m. ET

Josh Hamilton has hit three home runs in a game for the first time, knocking a trio of two-run shots against the Baltimore Orioles.

Hamilton homered in the first, third and seventh innings on Tuesday night. He also doubled to deep center in the fifth. He still had one at-bat left in a game that Texas led 8-1 in the seventh inning.

Hamilton is the 16th player in Rangers history to hit three homers in a game and the ninth to get four extra-base hits. His 14 total bases tied a team record, last reached by Jose Canseco in 1994.

He leads the AL with 13 homers and 34 RBIs and is batting .400.
