Granderson not worried about thumb after jamming it in NLCS

While all the attention has been on Daniel Murphy at the plate for the New York Mets, Curtis Granderson has had himself a solid postseason, and ensures he'll be available in the World Series despite suffering an injury in the NLCS.

In Game 3 of the NLCS against the Chicago Cubs, the 34-year-old right fielder jammed his left thumb while sliding on the base paths, but insists the injury won't hamper him in the World Series, which will begin on Tuesday in Kansas City.

"It feels good," Granderson said Monday. "I played with it the last game in Chicago. …  A lot made more so than it was. A lot of people had forgot that they saw me play on Wednesday. So, everything is good to go. I'll be ready to play again tomorrow."

Granderson has been a key contributor to the Mets this postseason, hitting .303/.385/.364 with seven RBI. He notably had three consecutive two-hit games in the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers and has recorded hits in all but two of the Mets' nine postseason games.

"He jammed his thumb in Chicago on a slide. He played the next day. He was fine," manager Terry Collins said. "He's taken batting practice. He's fine."
