Giants' Sandoval hits for cycle

Published Sep. 15, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval has hit for the cycle against the Colorado Rockies.

Sandoval hit a two-run homer in the first inning Thursday night, singled in the second and doubled in the fifth. In the sixth, he hit a fly ball to the base of the wall in right-center field and beat the throw to third for the triple to complete the first cycle of his career.

The four hits all came against starter Jhoulys Chacin.

Sandoval is the 25th Giants player to hit for the cycle and the first to do it since Fred Lewis accomplished the feat May 13, 2007, also at Coors Field. It is the 10th cycle recorded at Coors Field.
