Giants activate Gaudin from DL

Published Jul. 7, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The San Francisco Giants activated pitcher Chad Gaudin off the 15-day disabled list to start Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gaudin had been out since getting hit in the right elbow by a line drive from Miami's Derek Dietrich on June 20. San Francisco's primary long reliever at the start of the season, Gaudin was moved into the Giants starting rotation after Ryan Vogelsong went out with a hand injury in May.

To make room, left-hander Mike Kickham was optioned to Triple-A Fresno.
