Right-hander Chad Gaudin will get $700,000 under his one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics and can earn $400,000 more in performance bonuses based on starts and $100,000 for relief appearances.

Gaudin was released Thursday by the Yankees after losing out to Phil Hughes for the No. 5 slot in the team's rotation. Gaudin received $725,410 in termination pay from New York rather than the $2.95 million salary he and the team agreed to in January to avoid salary arbitration, then reached an agreement with the A's last weekend.

His deal with Oakland calls for $25,000 apiece for 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 starts. He would get $50,000 each for 22, 24 and 26 starts and $100,000 for 30 starts. He also could earn $25,000 each for 40, 45, 50 and 55 relief appearances.

Gaudin pitched for the A's from 2006-07. He was 0-3 with an 8.68 ERA in four spring training outings for the Yankees.
