Gators pull off face-plant double steal vs. rival Seminoles
Trick plays are fun ... when successful.
They're even better when it works against a rival.
Well, chalk one up for the Florida Gators.
Little more than a week ago, on March 17, the third-ranked Gators pulled off one of the oldest tricks in the book during a 14-8 victory vs. the visiting Florida State Seminoles.
Leading 6-5 with runners on the corners and two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Florida decided it was time for some trickeration.
Josh Tobias, the runner on first, started the "trick play" by catching the attention of Seminoles left-hander Bryant Holtmann, who was looking right at him. Tobias took off for second, but face-planted after two steps.
That's when the runner on third, Richie Martin, broke for home.
Holtmann, who spent a little too much time watching Tobias' stumble, turned and saw Martin flying down the baseline toward the plate.
By the time Holtmann threw the ball home, it was too late.
Oh my goodness... THEY STEAL HOME! The Gators pulled off the trick play of the year.Florida Gators

The Seminoles managed to tie the game at 7-all in their next at-bat, but the host Gators scored three in the bottom of the fifth and kept the lead for good.
