Francoeur, Blanco make Phillies opening day roster

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Philadelphia Phillies selected the contracts of outfielder Jeff Francoeur and infielder Andres Blanco and optioned outfielder Jordan Danks to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to complete the 25-man roster.

Right-handers Chad Billingsley and Jonathan Pettibone were placed on the 15-day disabled list and left-hander Mario Hollands was placed on the 60-day DL. Righty Dustin McGowan signed a one-year contract Saturday night and will start the season in the bullpen.

The Phillies will begin the year with 13 position players and 12 pitchers.

Pitchers: Righties David Buchanan, Justin De Fratus, Luis Garcia, Ken Giles, Jeanmar Gomez, Aaron Harang, McGowan, Jonathan Papelbon and Jerome Williams, and lefties Jake Diekman, Cole Hamels and Cesar Jimenez.

Catchers: Carlos Ruiz and Cameron Rupp.

Infielders: Cody Asche, Blanco, Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez, Ryan Howard, Darin Ruf and Chase Utley.

Outfielders: Francoeur, Odubel Herrera, Ben Revere, and Grady Sizemore.
