Former Phillies Outfielder Cedric Hunter Suspended 50 Games
Hunter hit .088 with the Phillies last season before going to Lehigh Valley
Former Phillies outfielder Cedric Hunter has been suspended for 50 by Major League Baseball for testing positive for amphetamine. According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hunter’s ban will begin this season should he sign with a major league team.

The Phillies signed Hunter to a minor league deal last offseason, and added him to their 25-man roster on Opening Day. He was the Phillies Opening Day left fielder, but only played 13 games for the club.
Hunter had just three hits as a Phillie, one being a solo home run against the Cincinnati Reds in the third game of the season.
After being designated for assignment and removed from the 40-man roster, Hunter hit .296 for Lehigh Valley in 98 games with 97 hits, 10 being home runs.
Hunter has spent the majority of his professional baseball career bouncing through minor league systems. His only other major league experience came in 2011 for the Padres, showing just how desolate the Phillies were by making him their Opening Day left fielder.
After not being retained by the Phillies organization at the end of the season, Hunter declared for free agency last month. With a lengthy suspension looming and an unproductive major league resume, his professional baseball career may be over for good.
