The buzz from Sunday's Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park:
-- Cody Ross spelled backward? Sorry Doc. Actually, Ssory Doc. Close enough. The anagram turned into an Internet rage over the weekend. "I heard about that. Freaky," Ross said. For the record, he's not apologizing for his two homers off Roy Halladay.
-- Ross, left, might have assured himself a Giants contract in 2011 with his work in the NLDS. Considering the NLCS, it could be multiyear. "This team is built for years to come, and I'd love to play here longer than this run we're having," Ross said. "I'd like to stay for my career." He'll be eligible for arbitration after making $4.45 million this year, and general manager Brian Sabean said it'll be "nothing that will break the bank" and "an affordable situation."
-- Ross has been filling Dan Uggla's head with stories about how dandy it is to play for the Giants, who have explored trades for the Marlins' power-hitting infielder. In fact, Ross has tried to persuade Uggla not to sign a long-term deal with Florida before his final year of arbitration so he can sign with the Giants after the 2011 season.
-- How proud is Sabean of his Lads? "Other than the '97 team, this has been the most endearing," he said, referring to his first year as GM when he traded Matt Williams for Jeff Kent and others who participated in the worst-to-first rise in the NL West.
-- Brian Wilson tied Rod Beck's regular-season franchise record with 48 saves. Now Wilson has 51. But Wilson's Giants have a long way to go to match Beck's 1993 Giants in wins. In fact, the 2010 Giants must win the World Series to reach 103 wins, 1993's regular-season total.
-- Tim Lincecum was the first Giant to win a postseason game in Philadelphia since Christy Mathewson beat Ed Plank of the A's in 10 innings on Oct. 8, 1913, Doug Greenwald tells Eavesdrops. Our question: With a name like Christy, did Philly fans whistle at him as they whistled at Lincecum?
-- We've seen the last of Jose Guillen, right, in black and orange. The Giants wouldn't put the injured and absent outfielder on their roster for the NLCS as an injury replacement or World Series, if they get there.
