Doug Davis returns to Brewers' disabled list

Published Jul. 16, 2010 11:21 p.m. ET

Milwaukee left-hander Doug Davis is back on the disabled list 10 days after he returned to the Brewers.

Davis was placed on the 15-day DL with tendinitis in his left elbow. He missed two months with inflammation of the lining around his heart before being activated on July 6.

Davis gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings against Pittsburgh on July 10. He is 1-4 with a 7.51 ERA in eight starts this season.

The Brewers recalled outfielder Lorenzo Cain from Triple-A Nashville before Friday night's game at Atlanta. Manager Ken Macha says Cain will give the team a right-handed power bat off the bench.
