With their first round pick, the 24th overall selection in the 2015 MLB Draft, the Dodgers chose right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler, a junior from Vanderbilt. Buehler was the third Commodore picked in the first round following teammates Dansby Swanson (No. 1, D-backs) and Carson Fulmer (No. 8, White Sox).

According to Jon Weisman of Dodger Insider, Buehler has already pitched in Chavez Ravine through the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic tournament in March. Weisman quotes him on the experience:

“It was awesome, man,” he said. “I guess it was the first time I ever pitched in a big-league park. It was a cool environment, cool area.”

If the name makes you think of the movie Ferris Buehler’s Day Off Buehler has heard it before. Per Weisman:

“I’ve seen it a bunch of times, probably 10 times. It’s one of those things, where you get to your first day of school, every teacher tries to reinvent the wheel, do the whole skit, so at some point I just went with it.”
