Dodgers OF Puig not in lineup after hitting wall

Published May. 5, 2014 4:08 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) Yasiel Puig wasn't listed in the starting lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers' series opener against the Washington Nationals, the day after he slammed into a wall trying to make a game-saving catch.

Manager Don Mattingly had Andre Ethier listed in right field for Monday's game.

Puig rammed his head and lower left leg against the fence as he tried to track down Jeff Baker's game-winning double in the bottom of the ninth of Sunday's 5-4 loss at Miami. The ball deflected off the wall and hit Puig in the face, and he fell to the ground.

The Dodgers said Puig passed a concussion test after the game and that he would be day to day.
