Dodgers make progess with Treanor
The Dodgers and catcher Matt Treanor are making progress on a one-year contract that will be worth just shy of $1 million, a major-league source told FOXSports.com.
Treanor, 35, is known as a strong defender and excellent handler of pitchers. He’s a career .225 hitter and reached the postseason with the Texas Rangers in each of the past two seasons. He had a .628 OPS while playing 72 games for the Royals and Rangers this year.
Treanor is a native of southern California, so signing with the Dodgers would mark a return home for him.
