Dodgers' Greinke gets pinch-hit call vs. DBacks

Published Jul. 11, 2013 2:25 a.m. ET

Los Angeles pitcher Zack Greinke drew a walk in the 10th inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks after the Dodgers ran low on position players.

The Dodgers were already down a player with second baseman Skip Schumaker serving the first game of a two-game suspension and had one position player left after rallying to tie the game at 5-all in the ninth inning Wednesday night.

Instead of using backup catcher Tim Federowicz to hit in the pitcher's spot in the 10th, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly sent out Greinke, who started the series opener on Monday.

A .370 hitter this season, Greinke fouled off a couple of pitches before drawing a walk against Josh Collmenter. He was stranded at second after Collmenter got the final two outs.
