Dodgers' Friedman missed out on Liberatore in Tampa, not in Los Angeles

Dodger reliever Adam Liberatore never got a chance to get called up with his former team, the Tampa Bay Rays, but it wasn’t like he didn’t get noticed. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, former executive vice president of baseball operations for the Rays, noticed and made sure to take him away from the Rays when he joined the Dodgers. Per the Orange County Register, Friedman explained why Liberatore never got called up:

“Last year, he did everything he could to put himself in position to knock the door down and get on our roster and force a call-up…It’s something that is often the case – we had gotten to a point with our 40-man roster where it was extremely difficult to get him in.”

The left-handed Liberatore has been a steady presence in the Dodgers bullpen this year with a 2.78 ERA in 22 2/3 innings and 26 strikeouts.
