Dodgers expect Scully back this weekend
The Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to have legendary broadcaster Vin Scully back at the microphone Saturday or Sunday for their home series against San Diego.
Scully, 84, missed his third straight game Thursday night as he recovers from what the team has said is a bad cold.
With cold weather and possible rain expected, the play-by-play icon is likely to remain away from the broadcast booth Friday night, ESPN Los Angeles reported.
On Tuesday, Scully was forced to miss his second home opener in his 63 years with the franchise, along with ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of Dodger Stadium.
Scully is among baseball's most revered voices and was placed in the broadcasters wing of the Hall of Fame in 1982.
He has scaled back his schedule in recent years, only doing home games and road games played against NL West opponents. This season he will also cut out trips to Colorado.
