Dodgers' Ethier has no complaints about moving to left field

With Yasiel Puig back from the disabled list, Andre Ethier has been moved from right field to left field. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly had previously said that Ethier would be the every day left fielder once Puig returned.

Although Ethier had patrolled right field for many years before the arrival of Puig with the Dodgers in 2013, the longest-tenured Dodger is making no quibbles about the move. Per the L.A. Daily News, Ethier said:

“I’m ready to play any position every day. Nothing changes for me. Just show up everyday and make the most of that opportunity.”

The left-hander didn’t leave any room to doubt his mindset saying:

“Right field, left field, it’s the exact same thing, just different sides of the field,” Ethier said. “Left field is no different than right field here. Look in a mirror, they’re mirror images.”

The 33-year-old may have been exaggerating a bit, but the field at Dodger Stadium is actually symmetrical, so perhaps the adjustment isn’t as tough as it would be at other ballparks.
