Dodgers' Brett Anderson racking up the innings

Published Jun. 8, 2015 3:58 a.m. ET

When the Dodgers signed pitchers Brett Anderson and Brandon McCarthy this offseason, there were questions raised about the durability of these two injury-plagued starters. Four starts into the season, McCarthy went down and had to undergo Tommy John surgery. After 11 starts, Anderson is going strong.

The Los Angeles Times points out that this is somewhat “uncharted territory” for Anderson. With 63 innings pitched, the left-hander has already surpassed his innings totals for each of the past three seasons: 35 (2012), 44 2-3 (2013), and 43 1-3 (2013). The next mark for him to reach would be the 83 1-3 he pitched in 2011.

Besides racking up the innings, Anderson has posted a solid ERA of 3.29 despite a 2-4 record. He seems to be getting stronger too. The L.A. Times notes that he has a 2.30 ERA in his last seven starts.
