Dodgers begin anew with new owners

Although the Southern California sun stayed behind clouds, everything else about the Los Angeles Dodgers' introductory news conference for their new ownership group signaled the dawn of a bright new era for a beloved franchise.

Magic Johnson, Mark Walter and Stan Kasten stood on a stage in center field at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday and vowed to restore the Dodgers' pride and dignity.

The franchise's prestige and fan support declined during the stormy ownership tenure of Frank McCourt, who sold the Dodgers for $2 billion to the group fronted by Johnson, headed by Walter and run by Kasten. The former Lakers star teared up at the thought of a new era in his adopted hometown.

Magic also announced an immediate $5 reduction in parking charges at Dodger Stadium.
