LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers activated catcher A.J. Ellis from the 15-day disabled list and optioned catcher Tim Federowicz to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The 33-year-old Ellis sprained his right ankle when he stepped on teammate Drew Butera's catcher's mask while celebrating Josh Beckett's no-hitter against Philadelphia on May 25.

Ellis has been limited to 15 games this season because of the sprained ankle and a left knee injury that required surgery. He is hitting .170 with one RBI.
