Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera's All-Star status in jeopardy?
Two-time AL MVP and three-time batting champ Miguel Cabrera is in jeopardy of not starting this year's All-Star game.
The Tigers' slugger no longer has a commanding lead for the starting nod at first base, according to the most recent All-Star Game ballot update from MLB.com.
With 2,123,752 votes, Miggy is still the leading vote-getter among AL first basemen, but Kansas City's Eric Hosmer is closing in with 2,053,237 votes.
Cabrera is currently hitting .333 with an on-base percentage of .441, the best in the AL. While Miggy has 11 home runs, 10 doubles and 34 RBI, he's off to a "slow" start in comparison to his normal standards.
Five other Tigers are among the leading vote-getters at their respective positions, including outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and J.D. Martinez, second baseman Ian Kinsler, designated hitter Victor Martinez and shortstop Jose Iglesias. Only Iglesias is as close as second place with 1,277,655 votes.
