Danks throws 6 shutout innings, White Sox stop Padres 6-1

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Avisail Garcia homered and John Danks pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 6-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Garcia's homer was his third of the spring and was the only hit off Drew Pomeranz. The San Diego starter pitched four innings. He walked one, hit a batter and struck out four.

Garcia drove in another run against Casey Janssen with a hard single off third baseman Yangervis Solarte's glove in the fifth inning. Garcia has 14 RBIs this spring.

Danks, coming off five scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs on Friday, gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six.

David Robertson threw a clean seventh for Chicago, striking out one. The Padres' Fernando Rodney allowed two runs in a seventh inning that included three hits, a wild pitch and a balk.
